Compact and bushy indet., potato leaf plants. Heavy load of 4-8 oz purple/black fruits, some with green shoulders, variable beefsteak shapes. Excellent flavor. Early maturing in our garden.

History

  • Russian commercial variety.
  • Both regular leaf and potato leaf versions of Chernomor were introduced to North America by Andrey Baranovsky of Minsk, Belarus in the early 2000. Andrey says that both versions of Chernomor originated from Russia and both are still sold by Russian commercial vendors. These are different varieties.

  • "Среднеспелый (105-110 дней) сорт салатного назначения для парников, пленочных теплиц и открытого грунта в южных регионах. Растение полудетерминантное, высотой 1,3-1,5 м. Требует пасынкования и подвязки. В кисти 3-5 плодов. Плоды плоскоокруглые, темно-бордовые, массой от 150-180 до 250-300 г, многокамерные, мясистые, сочные, очень вкусные. Ценность сорта: крупноплодность, оригинальная окраска плодов, отличные вкусовые качества. Рекомендуется для употребления в свежем виде."
