History

  • Russian origin. There is a Russian commercial hybrid tomato called 'Chernyi Aisberg F1', however, the fruits are red and small, so this cultivar is unlikely to have come from the hybrid seeds, and we have to assume it is a different, open-pollinated stable variety.
  • First offered in the Seed Savers 1998 Yearbook by Åke Truedsson of Klagshamn, Sweden (SWED TR A), who said that the seed originally came from Russia.

Also known as

Russian name: Черный Айсберг

The name means Black Iceberg in Russian.
