History

  • From Iraq, collected by Iraqi seed saver and collector Nael Aziz from France.
  • Named for the one-time caretaker of the greenhouses at the Agricultural College at Al Ghraib, Iraq. Maintained in cultivation in private gardens there since the 1970s.
  • Introduced commercially in North America by Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds in 2012.
